Here's another newbie question, why is the pm I sent Scott stuck in my outbox but hasn't gone to my sent box. I sent it. Does it stay in my outbox until it's received or did I miss a step? Thanks!

Yeah buddy....stays there until the recipient opens it! ::tu::

PM stays in your outbox until it's accessed/read by the recipient.

I prefer the Lansky system because I can't hold a consistent angle. I must warn you, it's not real great on small (narrow) blades.

If you can hold a consistent angle, hand sharpening with progressively finer grits of sandpaper, crocus cloth, wet 'n dry, etc mounted on a piece of plate glass will put an edge on a knife blade that will cut you just by looking at it.

My Lansky setup.

Hey Jerry ....this is how i sharpen small blades with a Lansky. Try it you'll like it!! :D

Wow! Is all I could say when I opened up the two gifted packages that arrived an hour ago from Jerry and Scott.(Jerryd6818 /TripleF)

I told a good friend about my new hobby yesterday. I said I can't believe these guys are just sending me stuff to help get started. He said that's pretty cool that they are that into their hobby that they go out of their way to help out a new guy like that.

I completely agree. I've never seen a more helpful group. I really want to say Thank You to Scott and Jerry for taking the time and even the expense to give me the items in the picture below. I especially loved the band aids that was a nice surprise as was the shammy to place under the stones.

Thank you Jerry and Scott! And also a thanks to the others with helpful advice. I feel with all your help I'm as prepared as I can be to start practicing!

Thanks again!

Sincerely,
Pete
