One thing you could say about them; they do work.

I kept one of these in the kitchen window, just above the sink, for years. Whenever the batteries were down on the electric opener, I'd put it on charge and grab the P-38. I could rip through a can top in nothing flat with it, and it seemed to never get dull.

It just disappeared. Looked almost everywhere for it. I suspect it went down the drain. I missed it so much I even searched Ebay for a replacement. Found one , too, but wouldn't pay the asking price for something we used to get in every single box of C-Rats.

In the Marine Corps they are called a "John Wayne."
A "P-38" is a WWII aircraft!

We still use one around the kitchen for "THAT" can that has a lip that a regular can opener can't grip. And, I might add, "THOSE" cans are becoming more and more prominate.

My dad still has a couple of them and that's all we used when I was little. I had forgotten about those until now, but now I'm going to have to find a couple of my own.

Hmmm. Only five months old. I have a couple of P-38s. One I got at an Army Surplus Store and carry on the key ring I keep in my pocket as a spare. The other I carried on my dog tag chain in VN.

The paper clip on the one on my key ring is because they tend to open up in your pocket and it's too close to my pride & joy for that nonsense. Suckers will bite you.

I carried one on my dog tag chain too when I was in country.
When I got out of the Corps I quit wearing anything around my neck, but I put the P-38 on my keychain.
I got tired to getting bitten by the darn thing so I took it off.
Never thought of a paper clip! Great idea Jerry. ::tu::
