Re: Fish Knife
That is the fanciest fish knife I have ever seen. I think had you used this on anything other than Sturgeon Roe you may have been banned from the Banquet Elite.smiling-knife wrote:This sterling silver and mop fish knife dates to 1875. Please post any other examples you have.

Greg, the Op knife is lovely. Had I brought mine to the banquet they would have tossed me and the knife.

Oh my word! How could you have been so Crude Joe. I 'm wondering though does fish present the same acidity problems as fruit? I wouldn't think so. But I am neither a botanists or a Biologist and I have never played on on TV.

Yes, I think 1875-1928 were quite opulent times and to see and be seen were quite important to those with resources of that time. Think about it. The oil Barons were being created, the bankers were emerging as historical icons and the Industrial revolution was creating countless millionaires. What an amazing and profitable time for Cutlers. The quality and sheer elegance of those knives will probably never be seen again.

Here is an Empire Fruit knife that I just won on ebay from the Late 1920's. Twas the begining of the end for the opulence of the Golden age

Re: Fish Knife
Unusual and patented as it follows the contours of the citrus you are peeling. I have a 1928 Readers digest advertisement for this knife. Maybe I got it so cheap because everyone thought it was bent.
