Can someone indentify the name of this type shield used on New York Knife Co. knives?

Seriously, I've seen the shield on NYK Army knives / utilities. I'm sure someone in the knife collecting world has given it a name at one time or another.

The general term for that shield is "GIMP". This is from "Collector Knives" Price and Zalesky.

NYK also used a very similar shield on their folding hunters.

Thanks Guys,

I really love the old scout style knives and bought this one for comparing to an old Case 6445R. Although different both seem to be of equal construction IMO.
