Chris Kirk and SMKW ???

Anybody know the "REAL" reasons for the fall-out between Chris Kirk and Kevin Pipes?? It seemed to me they both had a real good thing going there. I have bought many knives from SMKW and many through Chris Kirk too. Although most of my knives come from local yard sells and flee markets. I really love the hunt for older pocket knives. I had an order in to Chris for a Weidmansheil Coffin knife model WD17. Since their parting of the ways, I got a letter in the mail from SMKW telling me they cannot fulfill that order. I haven't tried contacting Chris. He's got his hands full getting things up and running at his new place. I also understand his new supplier is from California. Any thoughts??? wt3l

I would like to know more about this subject if you get any further information. I use to get the show on TV a couple of years ago and then of course that stopped due to problems with Chris and the Company. :( since then the best I got was occassional emails from his new operation. Very limited. If he gets a new site please let me know. I use to love watching him. It was the highlite of my week no doubt.

Pa Knives,
He has a show on Mon. and Fri. nights from 8 till 11. It is on dish network only, channel 221.
I really enjoy his show. I think he is funny. I also like his preaching and his political views. I have only ordered two knives from him and received what I ordered for the price I was quoted over the phone.
I have noticed that he seems to have a little less German and higher end knives than he used to since he has changed affiliation.
He has had a liitle more Schrade and Winchester on the new show. What bothers me is the Shrades have a little American flag on the box and he won't say that they are American made. Which they are not. But he also won't say they are imported. I don't like that.

The way I heard it was SMKW was sending catalogs & such with all of Chris's orders from the TV show. Folk's were then ordering from SMKW thinking they were ordering from Chris. He was getting NO revenue from this. Things escalated from there & they parted ways. I personally enjoy his show and antics. He is good for knife collecting & the good ol USA

I purchased $250 worth of knives from the Smokey Mountain Network show (DishNetwork channel 221 Monday and Friday night 8 to 11PM) on December 9th. As of December 29th I had no knives. I called and did speak to someone and 3 of the 7 knives then showed up without any packing slip info. I have since called them at least every Monday and Friday since. All I'm able to do is leave a message with a call center. Each time I'm told that someone would be back to me within 24 hours but I never get a call back. I just got my credit card bill for the full amount of the order and a second order I had placed for $60.
I have gone to Discover card to stop payment.

I then spoke to someone last night( Feb. 3, 2006) at the Smokey Mountain Network and was promissed that a customer service manager would call me today for sure. Still no calls.

I would recomend that no one buy from this shopping channel as I believe they may be committing credit card fraud.

Has anyone else been defrauded by this program? It is on DishNetwork Monday and Friday evenings , channel 221 8 to 11PM.

I have even called DishNetwork to see if they could get me in touch with more that this mindless message center that takes messages but does not retun calls or resolve the problem.

Tuzz,
I too have had some trouble with the new smn. I only ordered 2 knives. The first came after about 2 1/2 weeks wait also Knife only "NO" paper work...copy of invoice, back-order other knife...nothing. Just a knife in a box brown envelope. After several calls and e-mails to their website, I got the other knife. As I recall it was a bone stag congress with step bolsters. What I got was a stag alright...the knife is totally blackened. Maybe that's all they had left, I dunno. I "did" get 2 knives. As this was just a trial order (i know starting over isn't easy) I will wait a while before placing another order. I must say this also. I really believe that Chris is true and genuine in his religious beliefs. I agree with 99.9% of what he says on that issue. It's not easy to stand up for GOD in today's society full of political correctness, movies about sheepherders falling for each other (what would Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and John Wayne think), and can anybody remember when 911 happened that our government leaders were seen standing on the steps of the capital building singing God Bless America....weren't THESE the same people that voted to bann the 10 commandments from being displayed in, at or on those very same buildings?? I'll get back on track...yes Chris is going through "growing-pains" Maybe the operators aren't in good contact with him, like the ones he used at SNKW. I placed an order when he was at SNKW on night after 11p.m. and Chris took the phone from the operators hand and he talked to me about 5-8 min. or so. Has he bitten off more than he can chew...I don't think so... I think he just needs to take smaller bites. We all work hard for our money, I am still in the work force and I reward myself every now and then by making a new knife purchase. I also really love hunting-out those older treasurers from days gone by wheather it be at a flea market, yard sale, estate sale...whatever I've even approached several older Farmers in my area...now there's a wealth of info about old pocket knives. I don't know if any of this helps or not...it's all my opinion, just wanted to speak out. wt3l 8)

Tuzz, Chris Kirk is moving to national Radioi....look on his website for the SMN show on Mondays and Fridays. goto http://www.hoppinmadhillbilly.com he has left phone numbers to check on orders and a mailing address too. He states in this notice that he is being "bought-out" by an ex-supplier. I'll bet it's Smokey Mountain Knife Works. But I think all your wuestions about your order...back-orders will be answered there. later Keith J.
