Imperial ad knife questions

Post by terryl308 »

Picked this one up yesterday, stamped "Stainless Imperial Prov U.S.A. 3 1/4" small Stockman with etchings, "Super Razor Blade Stainless made in usa and a picture of a razor blade in the center. Spey blade has "For Flesh Only" etched on it with the Stainless stamp. The master blade has "MoorMan's etched on the opposite side also. MoorMan's was a feed business, so I suppose a salesman gave these away, just wondering if anyone knows about when? Except for a few blade rubs it is in great condition. Thanks, Terry ::handshake::

Not that I can tell by your pics, but my theory is that it depends on where the USA is stamped.

If it's sramped north to south on the right then it matches that used in 1956 - 1988
If it's stamped to the right of the word PROV then it's 1946 - 1956.

That's my take....

Scott, Sorry for the ppp (P---Poor Pictures) I'll try again but the stamp is Stainless (top line) Imperial under that in the 2nd line, then Prov U.S.A. on the 3rd line. nothing vertical or north and south. thanks, terry ::tu::

The RAZOR BLADE STAINLESS knives in both the Imperial and Schrade Walden stamps first appeared in catalogs in 1965. So the knife is 1965 at the earliest.

Steve and Dave, thanks for the responses to my post, guess it is a 65 or later, it definitely has the razor blade stainless etch. I'll have to find me a MoorMan's Feed salesman to sell it to LOL. ::ds:: Terry

A Schrade or Imperial 'specialist' might be able to say when "RAZOR BLADE STAINLESS" etch was discontinued.
