Just got this vintage knife in. Seems to be very well made. Celluloid handle. Main blade has an image of a bee / hornet on the tang and the name "Ape." Measures 3 inches long closed. Any info? Thanks in advance!

This was purchased at an auction of E C Simmons, Keen Kutter, and Shapleigh items. Is this an E C Simmons hornet?

By the way, there are no other markings on any other tangs.

It looks like the E C Simmons hornet. I have seen "APE" before but forget what it is for.

Doesn't look like the Simmons hornet to me unless they changed it over the years.

Thanks for the input (and thanks for posting the hornet tang stamp). Hopefully we will be able to solve this mystery knife.

Re: Need help identifying--Ape Hornet?
I have a knife with the hornet like OP knife. I thought it was a Simmons knife/hornet. So far i have not been able to find this knife. I will post a pic when i find it.
