case slimline trapper

Post by birddogger »

It has been a long time since I posted on here but I have a question. I purchased a 1981 case slimline trapper [very nice]. The tang stamp is CASE XX 9 DOTS OVER USA. The other side is 61048. What I would like to know whether it is SS or CV. There are no markings to indicate which. I am assuming, if it is not marked SS, it is CV. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Charlie

I believe that is correct Charlie stainless would have the two lightning s under case. If it has the mirror finish I would say CV.

Here's a pic of 2 81s. The top one is stainless.
