Just obtained this long switchblade knife. It came flying open (at an alarming rate) no problem. We do not know how to close it! Or how old it is. It is marked Rostfrei IMPORT and appears to have real antler handles. Like before, Ed & I know antique cars, signs, lamps etc...
but nothing about knives.
Thanks! Diane

It's a Pinch-Lock. You need to pry up on the tab that is on top of the knife where the blade meets the handle. Usually your thumb should be enough....put your thumbnail under the edge of the tab and push in and up while trying to fold the blade closed. Nice knife by the way.

It's most likely German and dates to the 1946-66 period or a little later.
I measure my collection by the ton.

I think the top bolster will rotate slightly (or swivel) and move the lock tab out of the way to unlock it. The bottom edge of the bolster is slightly rounded so it can swivel. Mark.

Push down on the button side bolster on the top, that may do it.knife-nut wrote:I think the top bolster will rotate slightly (or swivel) and move the lock tab out of the way to unlock it. The bottom edge of the bolster is slightly rounded so it can swivel. Mark.

Yes, the one bolster is rounded where it meets the scale. Push it down to release the lock. ( As others have mentioned.)
Chris - I'd give my right arm to be ambidexterous.
