Hello. I am new to this site and looking forward to talking about knives with everyone. I have a pretty good collection of knives and I found one in a pawn shop today. It is a Gerber Mark ll # 10204 non serrated blade. It says "Balingore" on the the blade and is in the original leather sheath. Can anyone tell me anything about this knife? Value? rarity? Thanks!

Welcome aaron. Someone may come along who can help you based on your description. But you may get better results if you can send some photos. Pictures always help a great deal.

I did a quick Google search and found these selling in the $70-$90 range.

Is this like your knife ?

If it actually falls into that 1969 manufacture year, that makes it a Viet Nam era Mark II.

That gives it very much added value, if it's in good condition.

If you can prove Viet Nam carry/service, ie a service member's name on the back of the sheath, etc, the value sky-rockets.

If used or carried by a Seal, Force Recon or Special Forces, or LLRP, the value is out the roof.

We need to see good quality scans or photos.

Here are some photos I took today. I could buy for $115 cash. I am hesitant about the 5 digit number and also the paint peeling off as you can see in the pics.

Yeah, I saw a couple of 1968s on eBay that went for $1500 each and a 1970 that went for $667. Knife and sheath show the same wear. I think even in that condition it's worth $115. Saw MK2s listed as a relic that went for $200+. I wish I could get that kind of money out of my MK1.
