Identification Help

Post by tinroof »

Sometimes I feel like I don't need this much fun. I brought home 2 abandoned knives today, good thing I didn't bring home 3, or there would now be 3 questions instead of just 2. Only 1 question belong here however, so my mystery is finding who made this treasure and maybe an estimate of when. No maker name, only a fine tang stamp and an origin country as Germany. It has / looks like tortoise handles but no other notes. Thanks for your assistance.

That's a nice knife. Can't say who made it. There were quite a few German makers whose names started with "W",( Wingen, Wusthof. Wadsworth, etc.)
There are some German collectors here who probably could help. Good luck. J.O'.

Yeah, that was the impulse to buy it, but that opens the mystery. Thanks

I can commiserate; I have a similar knife with pearl handles, and have not been able to find anything in Levine, Goins or Carter about this particular mark.
