God, I love repartee. A good chuckle is the best way to start the day. Thank you good folks at AAPK.

Wow!! I'm afraid to jump into this snake pit right here!
I am convinced that Colonial made these knives with private labeling many years ago! They were also made before I came active in the assemble room in the early 70's. That makes perfect sence since these knive's we are talking about have to be dated mid to late 60's...the handles, assembly rivets and a barrel finish on the blades also say Colonial...
In my forty + years in the factory of Colonial, I NEVER saw a Palco tang stamp on anything!!......Doesn't mean they didn't exist!! All the parts from these knives are definately Colonial parts....

Re: PALCO Forest Master? Who's PALCO?
This just came up over on the Colonial thread.
I got a new hobo. The reason I posted these two too gather is they both have a PALCO,USA stamp. I have been told that Colonial never made this stamp but I'm inclined to believe they did. I have two of the Forest Master and one has PALCO,USA and one with COLONIAL,USA both with the Forest Master shield. I also have 3 of the Colonial hobos and 2 with the PALCO,USA stamp and all these knives are made identical and the tools on the Hobos are stamped, identical on both the Palco and Colonial.
Just thought it was neat bit of Colonial history.
Palco, I found, is a Camping equipment seller. They sold things like canteens and knives.

Re: PALCO Forest Master? Who's PALCO?
I am reviving this long dormant thread to show off this 3 and 5/8" Palco camper type knife I picked up over the weekend at a gunshow for a few bucks. Palco was the Pressed Aluminum Company from Worcester, Mass that made aluminum camping utensils and cook ware. The tang stamp is Palco Worc., USA. It has some scratches on the handle, but does not look like it has been sharpened or used.

That's the same emblem as on Colonial sak copies before they were forced to change it.OLDE CUTLER wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 5:36 pm I am reviving this long dormant thread to show off this 3 and 5/8" Palco camper type knife I picked up over the weekend at a gunshow for a few bucks. It was definitely made by Colonial. Exact same awl, cap lifter and can opener.

After I read your post, I looked and found my Colonial marked version of this knife. It is not identical, but definitely shows that Colonial made the Palco knives. The Colonial awl is a different shape and the kick on the master blade is somewhat different.edge213 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 6:11 pmThat's the same emblem as on Colonial sak copies before they were forced to change it.OLDE CUTLER wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 5:36 pm I am reviving this long dormant thread to show off this 3 and 5/8" Palco camper type knife I picked up over the weekend at a gunshow for a few bucks. Colonial used two different awls.
One like on your Colonial, and one like on your Palco.
I have Colonials with both types.

Here is a Colonial Forest Master.
To my surprise the awl has a very nicely ground point on it that would actually lend itself to piercing something.
