Is this a Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett Barlow?
It's only stamped Hibbard on the tangs with a big (H) on the bolsters.
If it is, what would be the time line this knife was produced?

Any info would be helpful~

Hibbbard was the economy line I think. The finish work was left off. jmo
That said it's a great old knife, with enough patina to prove it's an honest knife. ::tu:: ::tu::

Thanks for the info everyone.
Thought it might be before Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett hooked up with each other.

I do like the old look of the knife plus it's a Barlow "My favorite type pocket knife"

I don't have the knife in hand yet. It's on it's way through the mail.
I just hope it's working order is as nice as the knife looks.

Got the knife the other day.
Not that bad of shape.
Had to do a little adjustments.

Reshaped the main blade a little.
The tip was previously shaped but not properly.
A little filing on the secondary blade to take out some nicks.
A good amount of the blades are gone, 20 % or so.
Filing to the main blade kick to get the blade to close better so the tip dosn't stick up anymore.
Filing to make new choils in the blades which were almost gone.
But that’s to be expected with a knife this old and used.
A lot of wobble in the main blade which I had to tap the pins to tighten it up.
Had to do some sanding to take out the small dents that were left in the bolsters.
Tried not to mess up the patina that much.
The bone handles I did not touch and left them as is.
The knife blades just need to be sharpened and this knife will be used again.

JW,

I've got a plenty of HSB knives BUT, for some reason that knife is really neat, don't know why I like it so much other than its a sweet old, rare real piece of American history ::nod:: I know that stamping is not seen often, and I like that.... And the bone along with the age on it is perfect ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu:: BH

Yea, I like it too.
Never seen one just marked Hibbard before.
Some collectors don't like to use the vintage knives they collect but I do.
I figure if the knives made it this long it's tough enough to be used again ~ "USED NOT ABUSED"
