question about wiring for a knife display board?!?!
so, i recently bought a old counter top hardware store knife display. now the knives are attached to the board with what looks like will be wires that you can twist in the back.
now my question, what type of wire should i use?
they are all bone and stag handle knives that i will be putting into it, and i don't want to use any type of wiring that will degrade over time in fear that it will discolor the knives.
so, any ideas gentlemen?
thanks,
jordan

Not to interrupt, but way back when I worked a little in a flower shop for a friend during his busy times. If I recal correctly they had both non-coated wire (steel small guage very flexable) and also a green coated wire. It was also small guage but the green plastic like coating made it a bit larger in diameter and not quite as flexable.
I have an old Boker countertop display and I used jewelers wire from my daughter's bracelet making supplies (available at most hobby and crafts stores) to attach my knives to the board. They have been mounted for three or four years now with no signs of any problems.
Be sure and show us a picture when you get it all put together.

You can also use that Elastic cord they sell at hobby shops. It comes in various diameters and is covered with a black string. Nice thing about it is if one wants to replace one knife with another of a different size it often can be just changed out.

I use stainless steel sternal closure wires, easily obtained if one works in cardiovascular surgery.

Womens hair ties work pretty good and you can get 'em in a variety of colors to match the handles. They're fairly inexpensive, too.
Charlie, I just finished up a cabinet job for one of the heads of cardiology for Mercy hospitals here in the midwest. I bet I can come up with some of those.

The local hardware store has a Case display that uses a metal mounting board and some small rare earth magnets.
