SOMETHING INTERESTING..WHAT IS IT??
The main Blade on this was never a cutting blade and it fits close to the 2nd blade so it was never longer. It measures about 1 3/8.
The 2nd blade however is just a sharpened stub now but couldn't have been more than an inch long.
Closed length is 2 1/4
I'm sure someone knows what this is/was...

You would probably have had to adjusted the old breaker point ignitions to remember them. Showing my age now

Yeh, I just gave away my old Dwell and Tach. Used to be able to tune a 6-banger in about 20 minutes, including gapping the plugs.

Now a days you're lucky if you can change a battery or the air filter w/o disturbing something else!

Re: SOMETHING INTERESTING..WHAT IS IT??
Actually though, if you get right down to it, I like the new computerized ignitions, nothing to do. Plugs last 100,000+ miles, hands are clean and no grease under the finger nails. May cost a little more than the old system but a tune-up lasts a long time. Until the computer crashes, that is

Re: SOMETHING INTERESTING..WHAT IS IT??
I'm with you guys on the mechanics. When the computers came in, I went out. It sure would be interesting to see what that knife looked like new. Since that "blade" doesn't look to have ever been sharp, the shape of the other blade might reveal the purpose of the knife.
Something else I thought was interesting. I did a quick search on "The Non-Retailing Company, Lancaster, PA" and nothing came up, but a search on "Non-Retailing" quickly referenced Pyramid Schemes. Now I'm even more curious about that little knife. Thanks for showing!

I wonder why there is no pivet pin on the spatula (or whatever it is) blade, where there is one on the cutting blade.

The good old days, was when I could "GAP' points and plugs by eye.cattaraugus57 wrote:HA! I've done plenty of them TJ!
ah..the good old day eh?
After 45 years working on motors, I now need glasses to find a plug or set of points.
Thank God, we do not have things like that now-a-days.
When it comes to tuning motors, to-day is the good old days... Ken

Re: SOMETHING INTERESTING..WHAT IS IT??
That smal blade could be used to adjust the ignition points.
That shape would be better then a screw-driver, in some old disys.
Now-a-days Feeler Gages have to be made of brass, when adjusting gaps.
Screw drivers are made of plastic, to adjust computers.
I have not worked for years now, however I have kept up with the new technology in cars.
I often spend time with the young machanics; they help me understand the new technology.
I still show them what 45 years xperience, can still do for them in to-days world ... Ken

"I wonder why there is no pivet pin on the spatula (or whatever it is) blade, where there is one on the cutting blade."
I was wondering this myself..? the mystery continues...
And it doesn't appear to be for opening watches as those blades are shaped differently..Here are a few of them.
Some are over $100.00

Re: SOMETHING INTERESTING..WHAT IS IT??
Googled the Company.
The Non-Retailing Co. Lancaster PA is mentioned in a Jewelers Circular October 1917.
That narrows it down to some sort of jewelry related company.
Probably a pocket watch opener or some sort of jewelers tool.
I own a Hamilton pocket watch from 1922.
They where manufactured in Lancaster PA.
