Upside down logo on Case knife
I have a friend that has a 6318 SHSP. On the handle the case logo looks to me upside down. Could this be possible ?
Re: Upside down logo on Case knife
Newer Case knives have a glued on shield. They do occasionally come loose and fall off. Perhaps that is what has happened to this knife and someone put it back on upside down or perhaps it came from the factory with the shield on upside down. Either scenerio is possible.

I've seen 'em come from the factory that way. Shield guy forgot his coffee that day probably

Bryan, it is very unlikely that even w/o their proper coffee fix
that a highly trained Case artisan would install a shield upside down.
Now on occasion they may not notice that the knife on their bench is
upside down when they are installing the shield right side up.
Which does cause a similar appearance when knife is later removed from the box.
(Looks like the shield was put in down side upwards)
I have seen NOS Case knives with shield loose in the tin or box.
So it would be easy enough for someone to reinstall the shield
so as to create a rare scarce error knife...possibly destined for EekBay!

Yes it's possible to have an upside down shield on a Case knife. I owned one that came new from Case like that and it was a pinned on shield. I've seen many others. Very few were pinned on shields though. I think wosey is quite right about the glued on shields and the Ebay prospect of a rare factory error. Who would do such a thing and put it for sale on Ebay for money?

Aimus, I did see a possible exception to the rule
on Case upside downward shields. Still need confirmation from
multiple sightings before it is lasered in stone.
Saw a Haley's Comet Commem 51 trapper which sits in it's
presentation box slot with blade open 180 degrees to
display the blade's colorful artwork right side up.
Apparently Case installs the Haley's Comet trapper shield
so that it will also be right side up when in the display slot.
Which seems to me to be an intentional shield installation in
what most knifeologists would consider to be the so-called
upside down position.
If any AAPKers have a Haley's Comet available, please confirm
that yours also has the shield rightside up when in the display slot.

Re: Upside down logo on Case knife
I have one of about of every major brand of knife I own that has a shield upside down.
it is not rare in my opinion (for what ever thats worth).
some older (70's roughly) sears craftsman all are upside down if I am not mistaken?

Here's a couple of pics of a little Eisenhower 06263 SS that has what I thought was the logo upside down. After reading about the placement of the logo on the Haley's comet being purposely done that way for display purposes, I'm thinking this one may have been purposely done that way so the CASE-XX would be read right-side up when viewing the blade with the signature engraved on it.
Anyone seen others like this?
