Sargent Knife Info Please

I know very little about the knives Jim Sargent
contracted for with his name on them.
That didn't stop me from buying one recently despite
grandpa's advice long ago to Look before I Leap.

Looks a lot like a cousin to the Schrade USA 8OT to me
(plus matchstriker pull) but haven't found any reference
to a Sarge knife in the exceptionally fine Schrade reference
guides provided here at AAPK.
Only other hint I've heard suggests it may be a Queen production.

So I offer it up here for your perusal and any Sargent knife info
will be muchly appreciated. ::nod::

Mark side of Clip blade shows ghost image of an etch that apparently
said "OLD SARGE" with some kind of circular emblem between the words.

Would also be nice to see pictures of other Sargent branded knives,
so by all means feel free to jump right in. Thanks

All things considered, I'd just call Jim. Google him or SARCO for the number. He will likely remember and you can pass the info along to us after you visit with him. He is a super nice guy and I'll bet he remembers the detail. It will take guesswork out of the answer.

EDIT: Josey,, After looking that knife over, I am going to speculate it was made for Jim by Colonial in the 'Old Cutler' series that Colonial put out. That was an excellent line of knives from Colonial. :D 8)

I bought a Sargent knife about 18 months ago.
I also emailed Jim's address from his website, but didn't get a reply.

I think mine is a Boker contract knife.
The tang on the main blade is marked "Sargent" over "Germany".
On the back it has "Solingen" over "Surgical" over "Steel".

Good luck,
Keith

I don't think Jim got into the computer age too deeply. I'd bet he counts on one of his staff (children, if you could call Jeanna that  ) to do his computer work.
It will be far more successful if done by phone.

Thanks for the advice Mr. Paladin
'have knife will travel'.
I called Sarco knifery in Amabama, Jim was out but
daughter Cricket was in. She says this stockman
was made in the 80s by Colonial.
So I guess I better not stick it in the 8OT slot of this
here Schradie display or else risk eternal tarnation.

I know it's been a long time since you posted your question about Sargent knives but I just picked up an Old Sarge knife by Sargent. And saw where you were asking for addition pictures of Sargent knives. Here one that I got and the reason is - I love abalone scales. And this one has some very pretty abalone and it's in very nice condition. A difficult knife for me to photograph. The pictures didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. The knife is actually much better looking than these pictures.

Was if finally determined that these knives were made by Colonial? ::shrug::

No pictures, but I have a Sergent splitback whittler with the same lines as a Queen or S&M (think Case 83 model) although it doesn't work quite as smoothly as a Schatt & Morgan. Oh yeah, on the reverse tang, it also has this big Q with a crown on it. ::uc::
