1920's Remington UMC fixed handled knife?
1920's Remington UMC fixed handled knife?
This is my 2nd post I hope it goes through.. I bought a Remington UMC fixed blade knife at a local Alaska gun show. Please help me with the age of the knife..I think it is pre 1920 because there is no shield on the knife but there is a tang on the knife and sheath. I have pics..

Yeah, that's an RH-4. I've got 3 here to compare it to. Can't help you on vintage.
Value is a subjective thing sometimes. At a guess--in that condition--the knife alone might sell on eBay for $5-15 (remember, I said "guess"). With the sheath, no idea. Maybe double that, if not more. I suspect some folks would bid on it just for the sheath.

Quality should not be an accident. So what is the explanation for some of the knives we've seen in the past few years? (from A Knifebuyer's Manifesto)

RH-4 Remington. With the "Remington" in script and no UMC mark, it dates 1933-1940 after DuPont rescued them from bankruptcy in 1933. They are common enough that you can generally find one for sale on ebay. Here's one that's on there now:
