Cutting Micarta Need

Post by dcgm4 »

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. If it's not then I apologize, and hopefully one of the mods will move it to the proper forum.

I'm looking for someone who can cut a piece of Westinghouse micarta in half for me. The micarta is about 3/8" thick. I need it cut in half so I have a pair of scales. I figure even factoring in material loss the scales will be a little more than 1/8" thick. If anyone is interested in helping me out send me an email or pm letting me know how much you'd charge for this service. Thanks.

I don't know where you're located but maybe someone on here is hear there? I would Google - woodworker + your zip code - and see what comes up. A person with a wood shop could cut that for you in less than a minute. Really just a person with a band saw could. Ask around.

Dave, if you know a hobby woodworker, that would most likely be the cheapest route (maybe even free) but if not, check these guys. I think Forest Carpentry first. In this situation, showing up on their doorstep with part in hand might get you better results than a phone call.

Thanks for the advice, guys. That's a good idea. I'll check some local places here and see what I can come up with.
