CASE XX 6208 Bone SAVED!!
The rust on the blades was measurable.....I had no idea it how bad.
Don't ask how long it took....
BUT I'm glad it's done!

Scott, very nice! I can see where that example had orange / red rust in addition to the charcoal carbon oxidation.

Nice job Scott. Without your intervention that knife would have been history.

Way to go Scott - without going into a full-blown explanation, what grit did you start with and then end with?

Re: CASE XX 6208 Bone SAVED!!
Did you use some kind of sanding block (piece of wood, sponge, rubber eraser, etc) or just your fingers?

Re: CASE XX 6208 Bone SAVED!!
On this knife I set the blade on a wood shim on a piece of marble and used finger sanding because of the hollow grind on the blades. Very time consumingjerryd6818 wrote:Did you use some kind of sanding block (piece of wood, sponge, rubber eraser, etc) or just your fingers?

Re: CASE XX 6208 Bone SAVED!!
That has come up VERY NICE
(Having done a few, I have a fair idea of just how much 'elbow-grease' went into that refurbish - and it didn't happen in 5 mins)
Off on a slight tangent ....with those sanding jobs in can be quite meditative/relaxing if you are in the right frame of mind and in no big hurry.
