pre 1920s Boker Masonic Knife Repair
Just picked this up for less than $10. The handles have been sprung out of place, and although it started out life as a whittler, one of the blades is broken. I'm gonna try to find a replacement blade, but if I can't find one I'm gonna turn this into a two blade pen knife. I wouldn't usually screw around with a knife this old, but it just ain't right to leave it with two and a half blades.

Well boys, I'm in it now!
Anybody got an old Boker pen blade and some 0.075" pin stock?

That's a neat old knife. I would try to fix it right. You might have to search ebay to find a donor knife for a blade. The shame on pin stock is there is a big S&H charge with Jantz to order any. Even to send some through the mail is $2.60 minimum for a package. It may be better to wait and order a larger quantity through Jantz.

Nice knife, I would try to keep it original with three blades
The pins are steel so you can easily find some finish nails that would work. Also what is the thickness of the tang on the pen knife?

MB,
The thickness is 0.064". The width at the pivot is 0.232".
OAL of the broken pen blade probably started at 1.800".

OK I'll take a look and see if I have a blade.
Now that I look closely the pins might be nickle, take a magnet to them. Also the back spring on that blade has a worn spot you might have to touch up to make it snap right.

I don't think you'd be able to make that a two blade pen knife, you'd still have to use both springs to match the tang thickness on the large blade.

Very cool. I have a Masonic Case knife but nothing this nice. Let us see the finished product!
