Very nice, Great idea making both variable speed for less than 1 machine. I like thrifty, What in the heck are you making with all of that stuff?

There is hardly a day goes by that I don't spend some time in my shop. Repairing, restoring anything that needs fixing but mostly playing with, working on or making knives. Here are some pics of some letter openers I made. I always clamp duplicate parts together for profiling as shown. I try to make some of these letter openers around Christmas time each year. They make good gifts. Handles are ivory, bark ivory, mastodon ivory, stag and stabilized maple. Heat treated 410 Stainless Steel. I do my own heat treating. Leather work too.

I am not sure of the time ratio but for every hour I spend making a mess out of my shop I spend some time trying to clean it up.

I though my shop was big when I built 10 years ago. It's getting smaller all the time. I think you need more equipment and clutter. ::super_happy::

My experience when it comes to woodshops with lots of open space is that there is some serious work being put out… Usually also means the guys are out on an install and the mess is cleaned up, shop is ready to start mill work for the next house or store, bar etc… One question… Where's all of the lumber?

Very nice. What do you make out of all that wood? Do you mill it too? Any pictures?

btrwtr, I cut the logs on my property and have them sawed by a guy with a portable mill. I use the lumber for various projects, cabinets, etc.

Wishful,
that's a nice stack of cared for lumber. It must be very gratifying to create from your own fallen trees. Good for you.

Thank you FRJ. The lumber storage sheds are connected to the shop. You are correct; 50 years ago the sheds were part of our cow stables.

Here's some old pics of my shop. I have since shoe horned in a few more tool boxes, a tig machine, a bandsaw, and a parts washer.

I know Glenn, how does he rate with blank wall space? ::shrug::

My wife gave me a nice Oregon Ducks football calendar and I don't have enough blank wall space in my shop to hang it! ::facepalm::

New pin stock organizing system. got tired of the pvc pipes getting shifted around, filling with dust, short pieces of pin would disappear into them never to be seen again, materials getting mixed up. This should alleviate all those problems. One box for each material, one box for tubes and one box for big stock for fixed blades. I still need to make labels for each tray, theory is when I can clearly read the label in the bottom of the tray it's time to order more. As you can see I'm low on a lot of stuff, my jantz order is inbound :D

1/16", 1.8mm, 2.0mm, 3/32" and 1/8" all fit in one box.

The label in case anyone else wants to do this. Amazon has them for about $6 ea with free shipping. they also make a deeper model of the same box but it's not really necessary unless you're storing some awfully fat rod

Nice neat little dust free stack. maybe eventually make a chest for them that each box will slide into it's own shelf? Steel label won't stick, going to run a strip of tape over the labels, keeps them from getting dirty too.

I had that on my mind also, Kaleb. Currently, I use those little paper bags that the pin stock comes in, and I write the sizes on them. It's not a good system, though. I don't have an organizer big enough, so I will have to go out and get ones like yours. Nice ::tu::
