An old Ulster Stock Man with a really cool master blade. Saber grind with double nail nicks on front, and flat grind on back. 4" closed.

I agree Barry. That one has everything going for it. The shape, the bone, and the blades, especially the master, are very appealing. ::tu::

Picked up this large Ulster pruner, I think this has a fairly early tang stamp.

Very fine handle on this old Ulster Hawkbill. Maybe Rosewood ?
From my casual observation the older Hawkbills have a slightly higher quality of wood than the ones that came later; by 'older' i am meaning before WW I, some of these 'older' Hawkbills are from 1890's.
However it might not be the case, but just that i need to see more of this pattern.
My guess is that your Hawkbill is pre WW I.

And end caps are more often seen on the 'older' (pre WW I ) Hawkbills than on those made later.
I am using WW I to divide into the really old ones vs. just 'old', as i shift i think i can see in the quality of wood used for the handles. Whether WW I was the time that handle changes happened (if indeed it even did happen), i don't know, it's guess.

Here's an unused 3 blade Senator made around 1900 or the early 1900's. About 3" in length, 3 ease outs, pearl scales, milled liners, sunk joints and an absolute top of the line knife from back then.

Very nice Dave but i'm not seeing the "milled liners". Sure you are not just 'gilding the lily' a little ?? :)

Very nicely milled liners. The milling seems to wear flat rather easily so it is only the unused ones that still have the milling crisp.
It looks like a tiny Christmas puppet is stuck between the liners ?? How odd !

I used my piece of float copper to keep the knife upright. What you are seeing is the reflection of the float copper in a badly out of focus blade.

Nice illusion, huh?!? :D

A junior barehead jack, pre-war for sure and maybe earlier. Slow blades are 'snapping' out of it with doses of Quick Release. The stains on the blades are superficial; the metal is glassy smooth. All steel- no brass or nickel silver. The knife does not appear to have been used, but has gotten a little humid over the decades. The bone is really the crown on this little jewel.

How does this one qualify, it's not all that old. Shrade may have made it, not sure. I don't see many with the script.
