Superb collection of old etched Maher and Grosh knives, peanut. They are all great, I am especially partial to the ebony handled ones and that swell centre jack is really special! ::tu::

Roger, I really like the El Diablo, especially the way the clip blade is made. ::tu::

I hope this one gets consideration for the "reborn" series :D

Beautiful old knife. El Diablo etch. I have a bunch of pictures in my books of Maher & Grosh, I was looking for the
closed length of your knife. I could not find a picture. I have a knife much like yours, but not nearly so nice. Is your
knife 3 7/8" closed. Is the knife I pictured a El Diablo? Thanks

Harold

Awesome knives Roger. That El Diablo etch must have been a great marketing draw!
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Took me many years of "Search and Rescue" to put this Stamped set together, one piece at a time. (Before the internet) including original Pin-Back.
I love "Advertisers"
I would like to have (or at least see) the "stamping die" that put Buster Brown & Tiege on this 11 and 3/4 inch hatchet, it must have been Humungus.
I've been thinking of putting a sigh under the frame that reads: "IF YOU RUN OUT OF AMMO: BREAK GLASS"

I need your help in identifying the maker of the "Hatchet" ::shrug:: Marble's perhaps? I know that the "Brown Shoe Co." logo on the 8" Woodcraft was by Camillus via Shapleigh St. Louis MO. c1930s. But I'm confused on the hatchet.

The stamping measurements on Buster Brown & Tiege is over 2" by 2"

Thanks danno,
There's more "Buster Brown's" out there to be found. Still have some room within the frame.

That is a very interesting set Dan, great job on putting it together ::tu::

Wonderful showing Peanut, the Toledo etch is sure a fine one ::drool::

Here is a Miller Bros that I was able to get from a friend of Mike's (galvanic1882). Genuine and quite blond tortoise shell. Measures 3.25"

Thanks Beechtree;
Love your Miller Bros. Looks as if the original owner had second thoughts after buying it and decided it was too beautiful to use?
Perhaps it was just carried around for "Show and Tell" only?
Luckily there are many of us that preserve this great history of cutlery and have great hopes to share it with generations to come.

Thanks Joe, Dan & Dan!
The tortoise shell is really lovely on this one. It is interesting to see the different qualities of the handle materials used. On some knives they are just finer samples than on others. I have a number handled in tortoise shell that is basically black in appearance. And it is true, this one must have been a "Show and Tell" only

Sometime in the not too distant past, I came across an Ebay auction for an advertisement for a pair of boy's calf-high brown leather boots with a leather pocket and knife on one boot. I think the knife was a four blade scout/utility, but I'm not sure.

I cannot recall the manufacturer.

Might that have been a Buster Brown product?

I'm wondering if your hatchet head was not acid etched.
