Sorry, that link does not seem to work anymore. It was kind of a strange listing, did not show up on a search when within ebay. I got to it from a reference on a Keen Kutter tool collector's website. Was listed as not selling to Canada. I emailed the seller and he said he would ship to Canada, however, ebay would not let me bid. Knife sold for $137.00.

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
It would have brought more but it had a crack on the rear center pin.
Roger
Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
I did see the crack, the knife was very well described by the seller. I am pretty inexperienced, I really wouldn't have had any idea how much a small crack like that could bring down the selling price. Based on my experience at the OKCA show (the only one I have ever been to), I would have expected that knife to go for at least twice what it did (which was actually $139.50, not %137.00).

Got this one last week. I do have a few concerns about it? The fit of the blades to the backsprings looks better in hand than in the photo. Shadows in the photo make the blades look significantly thinner than the backsprings?

Great looking KKs! I'm digging that big Coke Bottle.
Here's a picture of it from Sellin's book, can you see any of the "TICKLER" etch?

My newest KK. A 2 blade senator, just over 2 7/8". The back of the pen blade has a MADE IN USA stamp, have never previously seen any reference to this on a Keen Kutter?

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
Dan, that's interesting, I have seen knives made during WWI and WWII era using that stamp.

Sellens' lists this pattern as being produced between 1924 and 1934. I don't ever recall seeing one with the "Made in USA" stamp on the back of the blade, however, the knife itself certainly seems genuine. Is the odd line at the edge of the tang above the "Made in USA" actually there or is it just a photographic artifact?

Dan, some nice ones posted.
Picked this one up a couple weeks ago.

thanks Dimitri, however, as msteele points out below, this one is the wrong time frame for either WW.Miller Bro's wrote:Dan, that's interesting, I have seen knives made during WWI and WWII era using that stamp.
The line you are asking about is indeed there. I did not actually notice it until I looked at the photo. Under magnification it is very thin (can barely catch a fingernail in it) and very straight across and smooth. Can't tell when, why or how it was put there?msteele6 wrote:Sellens' lists this pattern as being produced between 1924 and 1934. Thanks guys, Dan,it's a small one 3". Jerry, found it at a small flea market a couple weeks ago, it was in among a bunch of other old pocket knives. There were a lot of old rare ones in the bunch but all the others were in pretty poor condition.

I find that if I look enough and long enough, even I find a good one once in a while. Congrats.

Not old but new to me
Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
Picked this old bare end jack up today, I think this one is pretty old. It reminds me a lot of Lyle's GEC boys knife.
Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
Great old Keen Kutter knife John ... and I agree that the resemblance to the Lick Creek Boys Knife is almost spot on the money - both sporting that long pull on master as well... bone looks to be same size in length and width !!!

Nice Schrade made Keen Kutter, charleeDA. Very nice old bone bareheaded jack, John. Great bone and nearly full blades!
Just got this hawkbill pruner in the mail today. Galvanic1882 was kind enough to sell it to me. Etched pattern number is still visible on the pile side of the blade (K135). According to the book has cocobolo handles and was made between 1905 and 1920.
