Can't help with a catalog, however, in Jacob Jarrett's Price Guide to Pocket Knives p. 82, this knife is shown, pattern number 546 apparently from an old catalog reprint.

Marvelous HS&B OVB, Mark ! Love the end cap with OVB instead like on some with OVB on the bolster. That is an interesting looking shield but works on this folder. Overall I really like this folder as it is unique and I have never seen one like it!
Thanks for posting a photo of this prize Lloyd

Re: Old HIBBARD, SPENCER & BARTLET---OVB---Knives
Hey GUYS, You ALL have me Laughing this morning!!! I very much appreciate the Kind words from ALL. Hard to find, Good Looking antique knives are STILL Available every now & then, You just got to be Lucky I think to come across them at the right time.
Hardcore "Knife collecting" has been going on BEFORE I was even born and MOST of the "Good Stuff" has already been gobbled up by collectors. Unfortunately, What is left in today's society((as far as Great antique knives)) is getting harder & harder to come by.
A Believe it or NOT!!! Small story for you guys from my Past.
My Grandpa was a KNIFE Collector/buy/sell/trade guy from the old days. Some of you would have recognized him IF he were still doing Gun & knife shows((will show Picture of him, He has passed away Now, But I am keeping the Tradition alive)). He always went by BIG JOHN!!!. His Love & Passion was Winchester, Remington, Case and Russell.
Long story Short, My grandpa went to one of his Local Hardware stores in Bedford Indiana, in around the Late 1950's or early 60's and BOUGHT A SET, I believe it was 12 Remington BULLET Knives out of the REMINGTON Display Case or board. All The Remington Bullets were Still Brand New in the original Box's. After buying them, He got a Safety deposit box and stored them for over 20yrs before getting them out at the early 80's Gun & Knife show at Dallas, Tx. At that show he was wanting to sell his Bullet Collection. He was asking $6,500 or thereabouts for the 12 and either sold them for $4,500 or $5,500((Figures are kinda blurry from my Dad)). Again memory's are fading but it was either Mr. Jim Parker or Mr. Sargent((Maybe Both of them, I just dont know)) viewed and wanted to buy the knives but passed on them. To my fathers recollection it was Mr. Sargent who had the BIG lighted 100x Zoom Magnifying glass and (((One of the bullets had a minor hairline from the Lanyard hole))) so it was a No go for Mr. Sargent. However the knives were sold at that Gun & Knife show to a guy named(Mr. Ken Kercheval, Clifford "Cliff" Barnes,,The actor on the TV show Dallas). All I know is that Cliff met my Grandpa at the Hilton to buy the knives. Pretty Cool story huh??
In Memory of my Grandfather "Big John" Hackney
Kind Regards & Blessings to all,
John "Mark" Hackney
PS. That is me with the hat on in 2005 at My grandpa's house in Bedford. My Father(Probably taking a Nap while Grandpa and I was having fun trading, lol) and my Son who is now 19yrs old. The "Big John" knife was given to me 3-months before my Grandpa's passing, Bless his heart!!
The Girl w/ Blonde hair is SHANA my wife, Pregnant with our daughter Tiffani,,,who is 18yrs old in an earlier visit. Where does the time go Guys???

Just acquired this HS&B OVB teardrop dog leg Jack. It is 3 & 1/2 inches closed. In remarkably fine condition with excellent W&T. No lateral blade play when either blade fully extended. Very crisp/sharp tang stamps. Full blades. Don't know the kind of wood the handles are made of. Anyone know or care to guess? Thanks for looking, Lloyd

Thanks for sharing those photos and story Mark - cool stuff and great memories
Lyle - as always another awesome farmer's jack
Duffer - Really nice dogleg ... that knife pattern is just so appealing .... I'm just guessing but cocobolo or possibly rosewood ... but for some reason it has the appearance of a softer wood but hard to tell as sometimes photos are deceiving.... What is the estimated age of that knife??

Mark I really enjoyed and appreciated the story and pictures of your Grandpa John Hackney. I knew him very well, bought a rare Case Tested trapper from him once for $1500.00. Remember him selling the Remington Bullets and then he bought more later on. Seems like he had two daughters (your aunts I assume) that also liked knives. Remember making one of them a display case, was her name Gloria? Thanks so much for sharing the story and also the pictures of your OVB made by NYK
