I've had this knife for about 8 years now and had come to the conclusion that it had been re-handled. I based that conclusion, not on any direct evidence but on the fact that I have seen so many re-handles done in a modern Christmas Tree material.

The other day the second knife came up on eBay. It appears to be very similar to my knife right down to the white lined Christmas Tree handles.

I guess my point is that it pays to be persistent in searching for answers and that common wisdom is sometimes more common than wisdom.

My knife is first and the eBay knife second:

That Scout knife is the bomb! The manner in which the cut swedge plunges in where it begins on the spine after that long nail pull and tapers out towards the tip is superb for a knife of its age. I also noticed that the swedge ends before it gets to the tip of the blade which to me is indicative of careful blade sharpening over time. I have a large case of knife envy!

Thanks for all the kind words, however, I have an embarrassing confession to make.

The picture of the knife that I posted as being the same as the eBay listed knife isn't mine. Some time back I had saved that picture as documentation of the handle material that I have on my actual knife. When I posted above I thought that it WAS my knife, however, I kept thinking that something was wrong and that somehow I had a clip bladed knife. Well, I went home and dug my knife out to take my own picture and, sure enough, it does have a clip blade.

The bottom line is still the same, I am now almost completely convinced that the handle material (white lined Christmas Tree) is the original material for all three of these knives.

FRJ, sorry about the slow response, but I had hoped to learn how to get my pictures uploaded from my new phone, however, in answer, I do think that there is some blade loss on the second knife's spear blade and can tell you absolutely that there is some loss on my clip (5%+/-).

Sorry for all of the confusion.

Hopefully, I will crack the code for uploading pictures from my new phone, when I do I will post a picture of my clip bladed teardrop.
