Re: Knives Made Before The Year 1960
Hi Lyle, the knife appears unused to me never sharpened the color looks pretty consistent with what I have seen.
Do you have a knife from Schrade that is darker?

How about a Dunlap (Sears).
And an Imperial Scout (1946-1956)
Here are four pre-1960 Schrades -- 1937, 1948, 1953 and 1958
This Schatt & Morgan has been around since the early 20th Century.
I'll quit for now with a Syracuse Knife Company EZ-Open 1935-1940

JohnR - Your pile of jacks is awesome - each and everyone - nice wood and jigged bone ... I can't quite make out the maker stamps - what have we here?? I think I am seeing a nice Challenge Cut Co jack on bottom if I am not mistaken....

Thank you, you are right, it is a Challenge, going clockwise, a Lawton, 1900 or so, an Electric, a New York Knife Co, Cattaraugus and a Dwight Devine Ulster.LongBlade wrote:Super looking knives JohnR and Jerry

As far as I know. Kind of hard to tell when there's no documentation on them.Miller Bro's wrote:Keep em comingjerryd6818 wrote:I'll quit for now with a Syracuse Knife Company EZ-Open 1935-1940

I have 1937, 1948, 1953, 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983 and 1988.
Makes a real nice historical progression for Schrade tang stamps.

Old knives are the best knives, here's a few of mine. The keen kutter jack in the top photo is possibly my oldest knife 1905-20.

Some more. If I'm not mistaken, the M. Furness Barlow is my oldest knife.
Re: Knives Made Before The Year 1960
Some nice knives here but I really like that KeenKutter jack and the pearl smokers knife!
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
