Holy Moly there Squirrel. That some bodacious pile you have going there.

This one had a decent starting price, even with the handle crack at the shield. With three minutes left no one had bid so I threw one at it and was the only bidder. These don't come up for sale all that often and even though I have one I couldn't just let it float away, now could I?

Jerry I was watching that knife but the postage was too high to Australia.
I have seen a few of the white ones with a crack at the shield.
I could not find one in the completed listings. There is another one on Ebay at the moment.

That one is in better condition than the one I just bought and the one I have in my pile. The one in my pile also has a shield crack but it's not as noticeable as the one I just bought.

It doesn't look like your white handle Scout has the shield crack.

Shield cracks (especially on the white ones) are fairly common on the Scout knives. 72s in general seem to have a lot of handle cracks at the rocker pin. Just the nature of the beast, I guess.

Jerry my one has a crack on the shield side towards the bottom bolster. It seems the white handle's crack more than the others.Being white the crack stand out more.

Sorry for the delayed response Jerryd, I've had these for a while, it was more fun talk'in them over with Johnnie R.- he loved the scout knife. The last one I purchased/traded, (can't remember now) was from Mr. B.(Het!!) and was the Remington R3333 not pictured. I actually have settled down in my collection, My start and first collection is very diverse and has a wide range of Cutlery stamps and rarely sees new additions. The second collection is "all" Remington, which is my main drive, focus and apparent addiction. ::tu:: Rocky

Dave I look at a lot of scout knives and without a doubt that is the most common "injury" you'll find. Those leather punches were just never intended to be used as a pry bar but it seems that's how a lot of them meet their demise.

That's a beauty W.B. It's not easy to find scout knives in that condition. I think Utica made some excellent quality knives. ::tu::

I'm guessing this is a 60's era Craftsman with a interesting carry attachment.

I'm not sure this would work very well... ::hmm::

I think that attachment apparatus was designed specifically to fit the web belt used in official Scout uniforms.

Here are a few scouts/campers from my collection. Going from left to right in the picture the first 8 are "official" scout knives and the others are "unofficial". From left to right are a Camillus (straight line) scout whittler, Remington RS3333, Cattaraugus D2589 Whitt-L-Kraft, LF&C Universal, Ulster Knife Co., Remington RS4233, Remington RS4783, Kutmaster Utica N.Y. Girl Scouts, Western Boulder Colo., Case XX U.S.A. 1970 ten dots 6445R, Case XX U.S.A. No dots 640045R, and Case Tested Rough Black 6445R.

The box is a reproduction.

Here's a few more "unofficial" scout patterns. Cattaraugus 42219, Kent N.Y. City, L.L. Bean Inc. Freeport, Me., and Craftsman. I suspect all but the a Cat were made by Camillus.

Took a peek in my pile here a while back and discovered I didn't have a Camillus 1047 double line Scout. Remedied that this past weekend and fortunately the seller only lived 75 miles away and is a fast shipper. Came in today's mail. It cleaned up quickly and very nicely. Just a tad shy of factory condition but good enough for this po' boy.

Nice one cato.... ::tu::...you got to love those acorn shields.

Mumbleypeg I have a few Craftsman's and I'm betting Ulster made them.

Here's a scout from Germany, W.H. Morley & Sons. Has their four leaf clover trademark.... 8)
