Here's another unusual shield , Red , White and blue on an old H Boker and son .
Stories I've been told are it was made for employees with the Union Pacific Railroads .

Dan Gwynn still does nice silver inlays , unfortunately , all of the ones that I have seen lately were inlaid on "imported" knives .

The nail nick and the long pull that appears to taper in width from one end to the other and extend slightly past the shoulder grind line into the ricasso/tang are also interesting features...You may want to consider posting your photos on this thread as well.

I am reminded, by the shield MB posted, of knot-tying diagrams.

Wonder what we'd get if we pulled the ends taut?

And there are two separate ends detectable in the photo.
