Hi Upnorth, here are the boxes that are hidden below. At one time I was very active in finding cutlery boxes for my collection. Lately they have been hard to find and I have lost some interest in chasing them. They are a valuable part of pocket knife history and should be conserved, in many cases they have an actual photo of the knife factory on the front. I think it`s neat to see the fancy art work on these old boxes. If you consider for a moment that these were never really seen by the general public, the knife factories really made some ornate labels for these old boxes. Enjoy the pictures!

Russell made wonderful knives, and deserved their reputation. They made other folders besides Barlows as well!
I hope it's O.K. to stick a couple in here next to the box they might have been shipped in!!?? :D

Upnorth, very nice Russell knives!! I think this is a very fitting place to show them. Any pattern other than a barlow is not too common to find in a Russell folding knife. The box originally held 1/2 doz. of #350 pattern knives. If anybody out there has an old catalog with the russell pattern numbers I would be interested to know what kind of knives it originally held. Seems to me I seen some russell patterns in some old books I have, but will have to look through them to see I can find anything. Anyone else have any old knife boxes?? If so please post them to this thread. This will make a very nice reference for future use. 8)

Stockman, thank you. ::tu:: I knew I had seen it somewhere before! Here is the page showing the knife that came in the above box. It is the top knife in the picture. Sorry about the page being sideways, could not turn it around.

Fantastic boxes M.B.! Mighty rare as well, you don't see many of the really old ones around anymore, especially something like a Southington box :shock: ::tu:: .

Charlie, excellent H.J.'s!

Eric,Thanks, your right you do not see many old knife company boxes these days. Here are some more old boxes. A rare Passaic Knife Co., and a scarce Case knife box. As well as a Camillus and Keen Kutter. M.B. ::tu::

What a collection! :shock: ::tu::

Well I don't have many, but I did just get this nice little NYK box that just happened to come with a knife! :D :D A nice litle birds eye that I believe was original to the box according to the Worthington print (first time I've seen that on a NYK box). 3 1/4", both blades have half stops, and apparently unused.

Very nice Eric ! ::tu::

Is this growing ' box problem ' something we can blame on Mike ?

Fran

M.B., That Passaic has to be a rare one. Wait until Buck123 sees it. :shock: ::drool::
If it's meant for me to have it, it'll still be there.

Eric, Nice find! The knife and the box :shock: Nice to see the agents name on the box as well. In an earlier post there is another N.Y. box with the agents name on the bottom.

Fran, The Passaic is a very rare one, never seen another.

Charlie, Thanks for the compliment. I have more to show, but will have to dig deep to get them out! :lol:
