Naked Kinfolks

Post by Mossdancer »

Came across this a few days ago, it is 9 3/8 overall with a 4 5/8 blade. I think it may be a WWII Mk1 Fighting knife. Problem is obvious in photos. I need a Pommel and a sheath. So anyone with a Kinfolks like this that has a lunched blade please contact me by P.M. and we might do some trading or exchange of currency for goods.

Or wood possibly, It's in far to good of condition to leave as is. I think with the red spacers it was more than likely aluminum.

I got one of those around here someplace WB. How come you think it is a MK1?
Only reason I ask.......I want to keep it with my other military stuff.

Thanks,
9ball :)

BTW: That is the same sheath as mine, but it has an aluminum pommel.

Hi Rick:
Been awhile. I have seen substantiation on the Mark 1 somewhere, I will have to look it up. As my memory recalls(hopefully better than Hillary's) The Blade should be 4 5/8 inches. I think the Bakelite Pommel goes with the Bakelite Stack on the blade and the pommel end. Hope you had a good Christmas.

I took a moment a day ago and spoke to the fellow upstairs telling him Thank You for giving us the reason for the Celebration.

I have recently purchased a copy of Mike Silveys' Military Knives. I am waiting with bated breath for it to arrive.

Christmas is always cool around here, the snow makes it a little better mixed with 15 year old scotch. I do not get out of bed without thanking God.

I got Silveys newest book (or at least one of them), it only shows folders. edUkated TeeVee died something back and I lost my addresses. I will shoot you a PM with photoes/link to ID soon.

I pretty sure it is the same knife, I just looked at it.

Your welcome ::tu::

I believe I have or had at one time this same Kinfolks knife, and usually when it has a non metal guard the Pommel is bakelite ::nod::

It has been postulated that near every hunting knife either near or of this type made during the early 40's may have been purchased for issue or by individual GI or bought at home by loving parents and sent for the War effort.

That it be!

I know of some folks that sent their kids firearms up into the early 60's, if you can believe that 8) Of course I am referring to a different conflick/war.
IIRC the laws about sending weapons through the mail changed soon after Kennedy was shot.......

That is somewhat true Re: the laws. The big change was GCA 1968.

Had a buddy in SE Asia after I got out who requested a Hi Standard 12 guage with high cap mag. Said the VC were as scared of one shot from one of them as an Auto loader.

The selling price , I have no idea. I think a mint one would probably reach a couple three hundred and that is just a WAG.
