Early German Knives

Post by Yehuda »

I'm a big fan of Solingen steel and German craftsmanship and whenever I run across an old German folder at a good price, I snatch it up.. From top to bottom:
Germania Cutlery, c.1900
Henckel, c.1900
Sword And Shield, c.? (Can't find any info)
Carl Schlieper, c.1950's
Morley And Sons, c. Early 1900's

"Stahl" is "steel"; "F.Stahl" might mean "Fine Steel" so no good clues as to maker.

Ray, outstanding Vintage German Knife Show !
Regarding the carved pearl, e.g. Koch, you say was popular in 1930's. I have a few carved pearl knives and had thought them to be from early 1900's, before WW I.

Thanks for the kind words my friend. Can't win em all but the fun is in trying. The best snag knifewise was a Joseph Rodgers spear point bowie I bought in an antique shop for $225. Guy figured it was worth at least a grand and maybe more.
The best score of all though was a 1967 vintage Breitling 806 Navitimer watch that had never been serviced I bought at another yard sale for $5. Couple years ago I had it overhauled for a cost of $500 and I am still way ahead of the game as the watch is worth about $3000 at the moment and going nowhere but up.

Nice 4 blade Senator. It is a top of the line pattern, usually the most expensive folding knife a company sold according to Bernard Levine.
