J. McClory horesman knife

Post by GerryD »

It’s been a lean time lately and I’ve not been seeing much in the way of knives. I did come across this recently and as I like the horseman knives I got my wallet out and bought it.
It’s a J McClory, Sheffield with the Scotia trade mark on the smaller of the two blades but I can’t make out the thistle, maybe it’s worn away or not even there. In general it’s in reasonable nick apart from the main blade that has either worn and doesn’t close properly or I think more likely that the blade has under gone some aggressive sharpening. I think it may have had a lamb foot blade (am I right Tom?)
The knife is 3.75” closed and 6” with the main blade open, it has what looks like either a jiggered bone or stag scales. There may be some sort of pattern on the lanyard eye but im not sure as its not distinct.
There seems to be a number of J. McClory so I’m not sure which one.
