Solingen made silver handled knife

Post by rangerbluedog »

Anybody got an idea what this is? Carbon steel blade marked Solingen N.G.D. The handle appears to be silver or silver plated. What is NGD?

Looks like a punal from South America;usually Argentina. They are commonly referred to as "gaucho' knives and come in a variety of sizes. Most are silver plated but some of the older ones were solid silver. The quality varies as well.
Here are a few of mine.I have a couple of larger ones as well but not of this quality.
