Need help with 2 G.Wostenholms

Post by edge213 »

The blades are stamped as follows.
G.WOSTENHOLM & SON
WASHINGTON WORKS
SHEFFIELD ENGLAND
And the ricasso is stamped I*XL
It looks to me these were made between 1848-1890.
The handles are bone. I would like to know the purpose of these knives.

They are well worn Farrier knives used to clean a horse hoof.

Nice old knives. With England stamped on them they were made 1891 or later.
