No makers mark on a Birmingham Sterling fruit knife?

Post by downbytheriver »

I'm wondering why there is a purity mark, a city mark, and year mark but no maker.
Thank you for your help.

Your fruit knife was made by Gorham silver Co.
Providence RI.
There are no British hallmarks because it was made in the USA.
The silver lion mark is facing right instead of left.
The knife is sterling silver.
The anchor is they're trade mark.
And the Capital "G" is for Gorham.

Your knife looks to be made in the 1950's.
