RED ALOX
these pix are to show a few things
difference in new and pocket worn RED
SHIELDS= new red is a pioneer.......one old red is a PIONEER and one is a SOLDIER!!!!!
on the 2 old RED ones....the shields are same...BUT to tell one is a SOLDIER the tang is DATE STAMPED
makes other a EARLY PIONEER
early pioneers and soldiers had BRASS LINERS
some had key ring liners.....some DID NOT
hope that helps a little

Wow Josh! You've been busy. Thanks for showing all those and the explanations. I enjoy looking at the colored Alox versions and you did a splendid job of capturing the colors. I'm particularly fond of the Orange Alox you sent me. I have to drag it out now and then and just stare at it.

I think once I get the green which will be my 15th, I am going to put a hold on more SAKs. I'm losing control with them; so many variations and sizes and tang stamps I can see myself spending my whole life on SAKs. It's hell having an addictive personality.

I know, I know. Is there some support group for us, like knives anonymous or something similar. Its hard for me to discover a knife without some sort of appeal. I find I can justify the purchase of virtually any blade. This has got to stop. Oh, wait. I just recalled a Schatt & Morgan that is a must have. Catch y'all later.

Re: VICTORINOX knives 1884- present SWISS ARMY KNIVES
Thanks guys. When I send knives to youngsters [next will be Scouts then Barlows] I include some simple information about the knives with a brief quiz like this one for the SAKs.
REVIEW: Whenever finished using a knife that you won't use again for a few days. Always wipe your prints off the blades with a very, very __________ cloth.
SAK means ________ ________ _______.
The handles on pocket knives are often called _________.
Two connected companies make the same SAKs. These are Victorinox (named after the founder's wife Victoria) and _______.
Here is a difficult question. What does ALOX tell us about the SAK scales?
[Ans: soft/Swiss Army Knives/scales/Wenger/they are aluminum (or aluminum alloy).]

Just bought this Victorinox Anniversary Soldier Knife of 2005 and at the blade, has laser etched the signature of the current CEO of Victorinox, Charles Elsener. Comes with a 192 page Collectors Companion Book. Still in unopened box.
Have a Knife Day!

I really like the Alox knives. Flipped the picture right side up so we don't get a kink in our neck while admiring it.
