Otter knife from Germany

Postby orvet » Sat Apr 11, 2009 3:28 pm

Maybe you guys can help me out here.
I got this last weekend at a flea market.

It is 3-1/2" with ebony handles.
Steel liners & bolsters.
The blade is etched with an otter on it with the word "OTTER" beneath the pic.
I cannot quite make out the tang stamp.
Perhaps someone more familiar with the German companies can make it out.
The blade has been heavily etched by something, I think rust.

Anyone have any ideas as to the maker?

Thanks,
Dale

Looks to be Gebr. Berns, who had an otter trademark. Goins lists them 1840-present. ::tu::

Thank you AKC. ::tu::
I couldn't read enough of it & I am not too familiar with many of the small German makers.
