European Community Cutlery

I ran across this brand(ECC) and am a little curious. I bought a stockman, and it is VERY much made like a Boker. It has red celluloid scales, and a black shield with a silver cross in it. At first glance, it looked like a Swiss Army. Has anyone else seen the European Community brand? It also has Soligen, Germany markings. If I can get a picture, I'll try and post it.

Hi Calico jack. EEC is the abbreviation or European Economic Community. I can't find any info on ECC. Do you know what the ECC stands for.... European Cutlery Co maybe? A photo would be very helpful. I will look into it. :) s-k

The ECC stands for European Community Cutlery. They call there trapper and stockman styles "Silver Cross". As I said, it very much resembles a Boker that I already own, so it really made me curious. I haven't found anything, and will appreciate anything you find,s-k. Thanks in advance.

Hi calico jack

I haven't been able to find out too much. ECC seem to be made in both Germany and Spain. It seems the folders (found a trapper and stockman with the red handles) are made in Germany and a dagger style made in Spain. They also make a 'credit card' knife. On one site the maker of a dagger from Spain was identified as Linder. Linder is a Solingen based company. I went to the Linder site but no mention of the ECC brand there. don't think I have made much progress but will keep and eye open. :) s-k

Forgive me for bringing back a 10 month old thread, but it caught my eye, as a wholesaler I know of offers a few of these. Very few.

The boot knife is identified as being made in Spain. Country of manufacture is not given on anything else.

I've included the prices in the photo description. Sorry about the quality of the pics. Seems to be two versions of the card knife, one having a clip type blade.

Just for your info. If anyone is interested in a passaround to examine one of the folders, let me know and I will order it.

I must admit that I'd forgotten this thread. I came across a trader at a knife show about 2 months ago who said he was told these are made by BOKER. I can't find any mention of that, but I do know you can work them to death and they keep coming back for more.

Sunburst, I collect certain boot knives and daggers, so I will try and get this next order. I'll give you a report on it then. I'll go ahead and get one of those folders as well.

Calico, the evidence seems to be building that the folders are made by Boker. I cannot find any other models than what I show here.. Oh, there is one, it's another 'card' knife, with a fork.

So once again I bring back this old thread on ECC knives. I promised to get a couple and report back, particularly to Sunburst about the dagger/boot knife.
The wholesaler was out of the folders, so I will just discuss the fixed blade.

Yep, made in spain. so etched on the back of the blade. The ECC logo is etched on the front. 8 1/4" overall, with a 4 1/2" double edged blade of some unknown stainless steel. Bolsters (guard and pommel) also appear to be high polished stainless, but I am not sure.

This is a small knife, I think better suited for a garter sheath strapped onto Angelina Jolie's leg than lost in a meaty, manly fist. Still, one would grip this for a quick stab, not a working grip, hacking jungle or whatever. I'll show it here next to a couple of more or less common knives to give you a size reference (Buck 110 and my customized Camillus CP77).

Double edged, but the blade is not sharp. I cannot cut my finger by rubbing it on the edge (am I not a dedicated knife reviewer??). This is not untypical of a dagger/boot knife. Again, not made for cutting. Knife has elegant good looks in my opinion. I like the undentifible stag, whatever creature it came from, and they are attached by heavy pins. Examining the knife here again, I see the pommel is integral to the tang, hence also the blade. The front guard / bolsters are 2 separate pieces, attached.

The sheath is of the belt loop, not boot clip, style. Simple and efficient, it does the job. I think the knife looks good in it.

Retail seems to be between $36 and $54.
