4 digit vs 5 digits

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

4 digit vs 5 digits

Post by whittler guy »

Does any one know what the difference between a 4 digit(5391) va a 5 digit(53091). Most listings refer to the 5 digit number but I have some 4 digit classic knives ?

I know the 91's for the Classic series had 2 different frames. I am not sure if one frame is marked one way, and one is marked the other, or if it is completely random.

The zeros are generally added, when the pattern has a slight variation from the original, as I understand it. For instance, the 53055 is a smaller version of the 5535.
