Hey guys,

I bought a knife awhile back, and I wanted to get some more information on it. It was advertised as a classic, but I'm a little uncertain as to whether it is.

Its description is as follows:
Pattern #: 61072 Clasp
Stamp: Case Brothers 1990
Handle: Bois D'Arc wood
Shield: Oval

It also has two, large X's etched one the blade and Proto etched on the reverse.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Nick

It sounds like it is a case classic. They did make a 61072 with this handle material, but it wasnt released in 1990. Without a photo, its hard to say for certain if its a prototype or not. But it very well could be.

Thanks for the info! What year do you think it was produced?

I've added a few pics, but they are somewhat blurry. Hope it helps!

Thanks again,
Nick

The regular issue was released in 1993, with a bomb shield. The fact it was issued in 1990 with an oval shield is probably why it is a proto. As well as I can make out in the photo's, the knife looks right to me.

Good call Chris ::tu::
I was breezing through the posts this morning when I came across this one. I knew I had seen it in some of the older PKCS catalogs back when I was putting the 2091's together - #19. Here's a scan of a color photo showing Nick's knife. It shows three early model 1072's in Case Brothers. It's hard to see in this scan but, all three have the XX blade stamping.

It's a great find, Nick :D

funny you should post that page of that catalog,as I bought items 1-12 on that page way back when.(ps,..the listed prices are inflated in that catalog, and i "think" it was at least 40% off of list price.
