Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Rangers' 3B Adrian Beltre needs 58 hits to reach 3000 career hits. He needs 9 doubles to reach 600 career doubles. He needs 5 homers to reach 450 career home runs. All reasonably within reach this year. Only 3 players in MLB history have 3000 hits, 600 doubles, and 450 home runs! Beltre would be the 4th. And he won his 5th Gold Glove last year. It's a true gift to watch him play.

Pitchers and catchers report for spring training in 40 days! ::ds:: ::ds::

At 37 years old, how many more years can he continue to pull off those plays. Good glove. Earned his $18M last year.

That's a good question Jerry. As you point out he's 37. Last year he hit .300, 104 RBI, 32 HR, and won a Gold Glove. Just another reason he's so amazing. I attribute his great fielding to the fact he doesn't wear a cup. (Makes you have quick hands!) But old Father Time is undefeated.

Cup or no cup, he's a splendid ball player and when he's ready to leave the game, I hope he's able to walk away under his own terms.

JerryD,
Last night, my wife brought home a DVD on the Cubs World Series 2016 produced by Major League Baseball. She got it for $5.00 at Jewel, I think it was. Worth very penny, in my opinion! Just to let you know. ::tu::

YouTube has the video (full game 7) and game 7 in 40 minutes. Is the DVD all 7 games?

Did you hear that David Ross is taking up residence in the Cubs front office as a special assistant to baseball ops?

It's all 7 games but just the major highlights, the important parts, plus a bunch of Cubs commentary, interviews, the parade, a tribute to GrandPa, the whole works. It is stellar for $5.00 and a must have for a Cubs fan.

I expected GrandPa to go there... but hadn't heard it yet. He's a Cubs legend now. That homer on his last at bat in the majors in Game 7, is the stuff books are written about. They carried him off the field on their shoulders. He was the inspiration for the team.

Ferg, if I were married, I'm sure she would. Purely on a voluntary basis, a purchase of cheap tacky jewelry has been made but as yet not wrapped, a card is awaiting my scrawl at the bottom and reservations have been made for a local restaurant's overpriced Valentine's day special.

Spring training baseball! Rangers/Royals game today was tied at 5-5 after 4 innings. That was the last inning anyone I ever heard of before was in the game for either team. But it is baseball! ::groove::

First game of spring training to be televised tonight on Comcast Sports Network Chicago. Sucker doesn't start until 2200 but I'm going to try to stay up and watch it. More televised spring training games to follow and most of them are in the late evening. Oh well. Only 17 more days until the regular season starts (not counting today). ::ds::
