As I sit here with a couple of mandolins hanging on the wall beside me I feel compelled to add the following which is decidedly not bluegrass but hopefully country enough.

Del McCoury has been in the business a long time. He was a banjo player but when he went to work for Bill Monroe in the 1960's Bill needed a guitar player and lead singer, so that's what he's doing now. To me, he's one of the best rhythm guitar players in the business. The mandolin player and banjo player are his sons.

Hank, I kinda like that Foghorn Stringband. I think I'd call the music "Americana".

The mandolin player is Caleb Klauder. Bill Monroe is rather well known for playing his mandolin a bit hard (and for having it banged around for him). But Caleb REALLY beats on his. I think he fires live rounds when he gets his tremolo going.

If your religion requires that you hate someone, you need a new religion.

When the people fear their government, that is tyranny. When government fears the people, that is freedom.

Here's another by Del McCoury and the Masters of Bluegrass. Del on guitar, Bobby Hicks on fiddle, J.D. Crowe on banjo, Bobby Osborne on mandolin and Jerry McCoury (Del's brother) on bass. Recorded at the Festival of the Bluegrass in Lexington, Ky.
