Old yet new. Well...new to this forum.

Post by Black Lion »

When I was born the Chicago Cubs were National League Champions which means I was born yesterday (or thereabouts) or 70+ years ago. Unfortunately it happens to be the latter. I'm not a knife collector persay but have acquired a few through the years. They're all a puzzle to me in regard to age so I'm here in hopes of accumulating knowledge and/or information about them.

What brought this on is a very recent discovery of a knife I used very much but paid little attention to. It was one of those "Well...I'll be darned!" moments that we all have when we encounter the unexpected. I'll post about it in a proper place and include some pics.

So....here I am...and here I'll read. Be gentle...I'm old and bruise easily.

Welcome from another resident of The Great State Of Chicago. :x Care to share approximately what part of the state you're residing in? I'm out in Rockford. I had just turned one when the Cubs won the pinnate and this year my dream came true when they won the World Delirious before I depart this world (no immediate plans for that) Since 1908, the mantra has been "Wait until next year". It has a whole new meaning for 2017.

Wow! So many responses so soon!

Jerry, I'm in C'ville just north of Elgin...about mid way twixt you and the....ummm....city.

I've posted my knife quandry in the KA-BAR area under "Surprise, surprise". I was able to get pics (not really good ones) uploaded but haven't figured out the Avatar thing yet. I tried....it didn't "take".

Thanks for the warm welcome. I promise I'll play nice!

Carpentersville was part of our territory when I worked for NCR the second time.

There is a "Tips and Tricks" forum ---> http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... m.php?f=98 and one of the threads gives you all the skinny on adding an Avatar. Check it out. (Avatars can be no larger than 100 x 100 pixels)

Avatar in, up and running. Great help, Jerry! I'd overlooked the top selection of avatar location (upload avatar) but still had to set dimension fields from 0 to a blank space before it would allow upload. Not sure where my previous attempts went to but the job is done now. ::ds::
