no pattern number on certain XX case,s ?

Post by cbnutt »

had looked at a case stockman with no pattern number on main blade, iam thinking someone had told me once that if theres not a pattern number, it would be early production ?? is there a time frame for that, early part of the 1940,s mabe ? thanks.......:)

Generally true that when you find a XX with no pattern number its an early one and more likely to have early XX era features like long pull on some patterns, green bone or rough black handles, etc.

iam guessing this to be a 18 pattern from the size, but if i remember right, it dosnt have a long pull on the clip, just the regular short pull, couldnt see a pattern nuimber, its white handles, so mabe a 4318,iam going to try to take a another look if i get a chance to talk with the person that has it.
