Thanks fellerz ::tu:: I am happy with both the knives. The Primble does not appear to have been used very much, the blade well is very clean, as are the cap lifter and can opener. I'm guessing post WWII into the early to mid 50's, two piece can opener.

Glad the Wolf arrived safe Tom, if any one is looking for Crouch, I still have one. These are solid built knives with tons of history.

Yep, he arrived in good shape. I just noticed that I called you Wayne in my OP, I surely do appologize for that, I must have had someone else on my mind. Thanks again for the great deal. ::handshake::

BTW, I think that Dimitri was looking for a Jess Crouch to go with his Chris Wolf. ::tu::

Thanks Dudley ::tu:: I did an Ebay search for the knife and did not come up with any with a clip blade. Is the rest of your knife the same as mine, blade configuration, style of can opener, etc.? Your stamp is different than mine in that mine is a three-line; John Primble/Belknap/Hwd. & Mfg. Co. Are the handles on yours bone or synthetic?

I just noticed that I did not post a pic of the shield side ::uc::

Delrin scales,a different opener(yours is either a two piece or has that secondary grind)it has a round shield(missing)and the bolsters don't have the groove. The star stamp was I think used until '64,think mine is at the late end and yours may be earlier.

Thanks. The can opener on mine is the two-piece and I'm guessing that it is from just after WWII to sometime in the early 50's (1946-195?). It almost looks to me like someone reprofiled the master on purpose, not to fix a broken blade. Lengthwise, the blade is appears almost full when in the closed position.

Nice knives TJ - I think the Clip blade conversion looks pretty cool - got anymore pictures of it? OH

Thanks OH ::tu:: Do you mean of the reprofiled master or of the whole knife? I have lots of pics from the seller but they're mostly redundant. Anything in particular you want to see, I can post.

Thanks TJ, I'd love to see a good picture of the reprofiled main blade - the homemade clip. OH

Here's about the best I could do. My abilities along with my camera are a little iffy at best. Who ever did the reprofile even cut the swedge into the blade.

That is one of the best conversion jobs I've seen on a blade - makes the old Scout knife much more interesting. OH

Thanks Catt ::tu:: The Wolf is one that I've been chasing for over a year now, so I am happy to have it. It needs a little TLC in that the pin has wiggled its way through the wooden handle (beechwood I think) and caused a separation of the liner. Maybe a repinning or even new handles if I can find a suitable wood blank. There's also a chip out of the back handle.

I kinda like the conversion too and who ever did it did a super job. I do not think that the reprofiling was done to fix a broken blade. Who knows, maybe a prototype, a one-of-a-kind worth scads of money. Not holding my breath on that one.

Congratulation on the Chris Wolf knife, TJ.. ::tu:: ::ds:: Personally, I would leave it original and not change the handles.
