Anyone Ever See A Camillus Moose Pattern?

Post by jerryd6818 »

Saw this knife on eBay and went Huh? Have I led a sheltered life? I've never seen this pattern anywhare. Not on eBay (until now). Not in a Camillus Catalog. Nowhere. Looks to me like a #20 with swapped out blades. Anyone see something I'm missing?

one bolster on each end of the knife, was sanded down so much it got into the bolster groove.

Now that you mention it, the bolsters are not right for a #20. The only thing about this knife that's Camillus is the main blade.

Frankenkife. WB did you do that?

That isn’t a #20 Camillus blade. The #20 has slim clip blades.

Is that your knife Gus? What an old beauty. I'm saying pre-WWII. Anyone want to dispute that?

There was something nagging at the back of my mind saying that Camillus did make a moose pattern & that is obviously a pre-WWII moose! ::tu::

I can't remember where I saw one, ::facepalm:: but I have seen one before.

::idea:: Didn't Camillus make a moose for Remington? And didn't they make the same knife in the Camillus Cartridge series?

That may be what I was thinking of.... ::shrug::

If it is, it must have been an SFO because it's not in any of the catalogs I have access to. Catalogs and personal experience (slim) the only things I have to make judgement from.

Right or wrong, at least several people have been entertained for a few minutes.

I have seen a few other odd Camillus patterns, maybe they were introduced and discontinued in between catalogs. On the moose pattern that I had (this was in the 80's). the guy I got them from was a local knife guy who actually bought them out of an old hardware store. He had three still in the original bulk box. I saw all three with the box and bought one of them. So my guess is it was a standard product knife that was not in the line for very long.
