Question about Scagle knife.

Post by dewman »

I'll show my ignorance about knives and ask. What on earth makes this knife worth so much money and why has so much interest been generated over it? Obviously this Scagle fella was held in very high regard, yet still....................???? ::shrug::

Can someone fill in the blanks for this newbie in the knife world?

Scagel is probably the most sought after custom knife and as you can see demand a very high price. The knife is in very good condition for it's age and is a very nice piece.

Randall was the first knife maker I ever really knew anything about and Scagel was his mentor.
I guess I always considered Scagel to be Father, or maybe the Grandfather of custom makers.
I do not believe this one has topped out yet.

If anyone is interested I have a nice article on William Scagel that is saved on PDF Adobe file. I will send anyone who ask an email with this file and another with the information on the Scagel replicas.

Just let me know and it will head your way..

Yep....I'd love to read up on the man and his knives. Please, if you'd be so kind, send the article to: PJKW@frontiernet.net

Thanks in advance.

eBay Scagel sale closed

Post by BigDonDon »

The garage sale $5.00 knife just closed on eBay at $10,700. Not a bad investment. Should keep folks frequenting estate sales.

You posted to a thread that was last posted to in 2007.
I doubt you get an answer, but sometimes you get lucky posting to old threads. ::shrug::
