Ok ladies and gentlemen,I have never owned a trapper until three week ago when I got a great Schrade 96ot slipped it in a sheath and used it as an EDC took it for a bike ride,on a job, hunting, woodworking and a little bit of wittling ::nod:: I have all kinds of differant blades but I'll tell ya and it's something I never thought about I really missed a pen blade other than at work it's amazing how many times I flip out the pen blade.I always envy Peanut owners I love there stories, bought one, used it, then gave it to my brother because I couldn't close my hand around it to get a grip.So my question to yall is what is your favorite blade and why???

Great topic garddog!!

Since most of my cutting revolves around cutting boxes to be used in packaging for shipping knives sold, I'd have to go with a clip/spear blade.

My favorite blade has to be the small clip on the swell center whittler.

Okay, I admit this one ain't for carrying, but that small clip is really handy for cleaning fingernails, lots of other small jobs and probably ain't bad fer whittlin either.

I have been liking a fat spear blade mounted in an EO frame, especially if it has a pen secondary. ::nod::
1095 Carbon is real nice for a folder........but I like SS just fine too. ::tu::
I am really hoping to see a GEC #65 with a secondary pen blade. The pen would have to be good size in
the 4 1/2" frame and would be very handy imo.

Since I work in an office environment (IT), my blade of choice is a wharncliff. This Bulldog Groundhog is one of my EDC's.

I like that one Big Barn! Isn't that the model meant to be taken apart to be cleaned? I carry a Case Norfolk because of the Wharncliffe and it also has the small clip like the whittler. ps: If anyone has one of the "take apart" models they'd like to trade, look me up.

although it isn't my favorite blade, i use the long clip blade usuually associated with the muskrat knives. i eat a lot of apples especially when i am out on my hikes with the dog. i cut the skins off the apples and then quarter it, my dog eats all the quartered cores. best blade for the job.
other than that, the blade of my fav is 1st the spear usually found on easy opens, and then the sabre clip. plenty of room for sharpening.

Here are my two EDC's and my favorite blade styles.

The Kershaw Chives get the most use by far, thats the reason for having two, just in case. The recurved blade makes quick work of anything like rope, twine, boxes, fish bait pretty much anything. They are also index finger or thumb stud spring assist. so they are the best for me when needing a quick one handed tuff cutting tool. I carry the case as well for jobs needing a little more length/finesse, mostly food prep.

For looks, I love the over-sized spey blade on a large Case saddlehorn. For utility purposes, I like using a spear blade like the one found on my old Scout knife.

Clips and Spears (or Pens) are my used blades; I normally carry a Jack knife or a Stock knife of medium size for EDC.
These two are staying in my pocket the most:

I already fessed-up about the Case Norfolk because of it's small clip and the Wharncliffe. Nope, she's no safe queen. Every time I see Tony Bose, he's tickled to see my Norfolk as it gains pocket wear and hear the stories about how much use it gets. It is like a half-whittler on steriods with the AtS-34 blades and SS liners and bolsters, but the blades are what does it for me.

I'm with you IMBand;1095 gets a lot of press time but for an EDC at work I really have no problem at all with SS .Like with my Bucks they hole an edge just as long as any CV or 1095 but with me D-2 last longer.

Well it's been over two weeks and the trapper isn't cutting it I need a pen blade so I took the trapper out of EDC rotation and slipped the barlow back in the RFP ::shrug:: So I guess it's gut to be a barlow or a jack or a stockman in the RFP from now on ::nod::

Trevor you just described the Camillus #33. I've been carrying this one for quite some time and it's just about my favorite. Though I do like a Wharncliffe blade quite a bit.

Bob, I fell in love with that Norfolk the first time I saw it but since I can't afford one, it will have to be one of my dream knives.
